this was known as the scolds bridal. the men would strap this on to the scoulds.they would drag them through the street
and the women couldnt talk because of the metal peice that went on top of the tongue. it was attached to the scoulds bridal. as the scoulds were draged through the street people through rocks and rubbish on the women.
another cruel punishment was whipping. cruelty reached to such an extent that men were EXPECTED to whip the women. it showed how rich they were.
